Hello everyone, I highly respect and love all the artists involved in this series. As a fan, I have been eagerly waiting for two years to watch it. However, when the trailer was released, I was deeply disappointed to see that Myanmar's traditional attire from the Konbaung dynasty was used in the show.
In the past, when series about King Bayinnaung (Hanthawaddy) were produced, they acknowledged it as Myanmar traditional clothing and Myanmar history, so I did not feel angered, though I felt a bit sad about Thai productions adaptation of our history. But in this case, the production team must take responsibility, as it has caused immense anger among the people of Myanmar.
This series is a remake from the very beginning. If Thailand wanted to create a fictional and imaginative adaptation, they should have used Thai traditional attire from the start. Using Myanmar traditional clothing in a series that has absolutely no connection to Myanmar history is an insult to the Myanmar people.
I demand that the production team issue a formal apology statement and change the costumes. Otherwise, this issue will escalate, leading to even bigger problems and ongoing controversies. I would also like to urge Thailand never to use Myanmar history or Myanmar traditional attire in the future. This matter has nothing to do with the cast and artists.
This is not about attacking Thailand or restricting creative freedom. It’s about respecting Myanmar’s cultural heritage. If the costumes draw inspiration from Myanmar’s Konbaung-era royal attire, that influence deserves proper recognition. Creative freedom should never mean erasing the origins of another culture’s heritage. We stand for cultural respect, historical accuracy, and proper acknowledgment.
