The G&B school was a gift to the people of Georgetown and entrusted by the G&B company to the Town of Wilton after Town representatives promised that the original 1916 covenant giving the people rights to use the building as a community center would continue to be upheld. The long and short of it is that historical records support the case that this is not a building Wilton should be able to sell to just anyone for profit. It is a building that the people of Georgetown (and also greater Wilton, Redding, Weston, and Ridgefield, as all of these form part of Georgetown) have rights to. If the Town of Wilton no longer wants to maintain the building (and they have left a lot of things unmaintained, so this would seem to be a fair interpretation), fine. Then give it to the GCA. But it is not right (and I hope a judge would determine it illegal, too) to violate the covenants, deny Georgetowners their inheritance, and to sell the place for profit (when Wilton never paid the G&B company a dime for the deed in the first place). What buyer would respect the peoples' right to use the school as a community center? The covenants say that so long as it doesn't interfere with the building's functions as a school (and it no longer functions as a school), it is to be available to the community. That is 100% of the time now. And on top of that the fields are used for local sports by children from throughout Wilton.

The G&B school must remain with the community. It is the heart of Georegtown and has been underutilized and neglected as a community resource for far too long. Using it for commercial development will destroy our neighborhood. Keep the G&B in the hands of the community.

My son played soccer on the fields My daughter made art in the center My support group shared and cried in the meeting room. It’s a gem that could shine like star if people value a landmark of tradition and heritage.

My grandmother went to this school in the 1920's, and I went to summer camp here when I was a kid. It's a beautiful building and a great resource for people of the area, and helps anchor the neighborhood. It deserves not to be sold and destroyed!

Several of my family members were born there. That hospital has supported our community and our military members for their behavioral health needs. My wife was one of the last to leave as she worked there when the flood happened. Would hate to see this building leave our community

This hospital has very sentimental memories for our family. Preserving it would mean so much to me and my family. Love how the prayers are said over the intercoms.

Thank you for doing this! I hope this works out for all involved! Never doubt yourself because you are young. The news mentioned the Nor wood group, which I believe is also composed of Colorado Springs natives. They seem to be a little bit more responsible and respectful of the city than other developers so very nice to see in the article. I hope you can help partner with them in some way. I think the other thing forgotten about the impact the hospital had was the community impact it had. Many of us were born or cared for there. That surrounding area is such a run down, beautiful area of Colorado Springs with many unique homes and shops etc that have just disappeared and need some TLC. It would be nice to see St. Francis rejuvenated not just itself, but for the benefit to the entire surrounding communities. It would be amazing to see the printers home and this revitalized. Good luck!!!

I'm a native Coloradan and I don't know how many times they tore down beautiful old historic buildings but it's always upsetting. Not just for me but for several people. America has history but if someone from a foreign land came here they would never know any of it because too much of it has been torn down. I say keep these beautiful old historic buildings. Those old buildings were made sturdy and made to last!

My younger brother was born there and throughout the years myself and my friends and family members had been treated for one thing or another. I have also lost a few of my people in the hospice they had. It's such a beautiful place and very special to me and many other people in our community. Too much has been taken away from our city lately and so many ugly structures have gone up and are still being built. We need to save our beautiful old buildings and houses for they are a big part of who we are and how we maintain ourselves.

I was born at this hospital in 1986 and would love to see this building saved and used for a good useful purpose
