Okay, look. I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to let Mike Miles run our schools, but y’all messed up. BIG TIME. Ever since he showed up, school has been, like, 99% boring and 1% crying inside (mostly the teachers, but still). First of all, WHY are we doing drills and tests all day like we’re training for the Test Olympics? Where’s recess? Where’s art? Where’s music? I used to draw cool dragons in art class — now I’m just drawing boxes on answer sheets. Lame. And the teachers? They used to smile. Now they look like they need a nap, a vacation, and a giant cup of coffee — all at the same time. Some of the best ones left! Like actually LEFT. That should tell you something. So yeah, I’m just a kid, but even I can tell this guy is messing everything up. If I ran HISD, I’d make school fun and smart. Mike Miles makes it feel like robot boot camp. I vote we give him a one-way ticket outta here and bring back the good vibes. Peace out ✌️

Things have felt off since Mike Miles came around. The energy’s different—like everyone’s just going through the motions now. Teachers seem drained, and kids aren’t as into learning like before. Maybe it’s nothing… or maybe it’s who’s running the show. Just something to think about.

HISD has been taken over by Mike Miles in the past year. Over this time period, we have witnessed the many attacks he made on our education. He closed down libraries, and cut art programs, leading our schools down an autocratic path of misery. He took away our freedom to read what we wish, banning books from NES schools which in itself is detrimental to our education. At the same time, he led many families to his charter schools, lining his pocket with cash as he made us, the students and staff under him suffer. Positioning him in power was a mistake we should have never let happen. We, the people, the students that will someday rule this world with the knowledge we learn in schools must fight back against this avaricious bully- who also is a major reason for the teacher shortages in many low income area. His "reforms" are causing unease throughout the district. Please help us rid him of the office. - Fiona Wang

As a student in Houston ISD, I have experienced firsthand the effects of Mike Miles' "reforms." His use of artificial intelligence in teaching material is not only degrading the quality of our material, it is also hypocritical, as they are trying to teach us to stay away from AI through an AI-generated lesson. Those infrastructure and technology changes have only made it harder for students to concentrate. For instance, I am writing this on a school-issued laptop, which has very limited restrictions. These issues cannot go unheard. although there have been protests demanding Mike Miles to step down, he will not budge. I, and the rest of the student body in all of HISD deserve better.

Mike Miles once said that he would like to change HISD slowly and steadily, yet he has failed utterly to keep this lunatic operation anything but stable. And if this is supposed to be slow, with already life-changing altercations that hurt more students with each passing day, how can we allow this scandalous act to continue? I have always been a perfectionist, and now I am losing sleep, answering painstaking IXL questions in the dead of the night for some man who can't even be bothered to listen to our opinions. I have said this before and will say it again, this is no longer the Houston Independent School District. This is the Horribly Inefficient Superintendent Dictatorship. It's like how North Korea is called the People's Republic, when it is in reality, nothing more than communism serving the whims of a failure and disgrace to humanity.

Mike Miles is failing students and teachers because he cares more about money than education. His strict, unfair policies make school stressful instead of fun and helpful. Instead of giving us the resources we need, he cuts budgets and ignores what actually helps kids learn. Teachers are frustrated, students are struggling, and nobody feels supported. School used to be a place where we could grow, but now it feels like a prison with too many rules. Miles doesn’t listen to students or teachers—he just forces his bad ideas on everyone. His harsh discipline and boring teaching methods make learning miserable. Why should we sit through classes that don’t even prepare us for the real world? He’s making education worse, not better. It’s time for Mike Miles to leave. We need someone who actually cares about students, not just money and control. If he stays, schools will keep getting worse. Firing him would give our district a fresh start—one where students come first. Let’s demand better leadership before it’s too late!

Mike Myles should be banned due to his blatant disregard for student well-being, both academically and personally. He places overwhelming pressure on students by imposing unreasonable demands, tight deadlines, and unrealistic expectations without any consideration for their individual circumstances, which results in heightened stress and anxiety. This has led to a toxic learning environment where students feel inadequate and unsupported. Furthermore, Myles has consistently ignored student health issues, including mental health struggles such as anxiety and depression, showing no compassion or flexibility when students request accommodations or express concerns. His lack of empathy extends to his failure to provide a safe and fair classroom environment, often dismissing students' feedback or concerns, and fostering an atmosphere of fear and discomfort. This negligence not only undermines the students' academic growth but also negatively impacts their overall well-being, making it impossible for many to thrive. His behavior fosters an elitist and exclusionary environment where only a few students who can endure extreme pressure succeed, while others are left behind. This treatment compromises the core values of education—support, fairness, and understanding—and harms students' mental and physical health. Given his failure to provide an empathetic and supportive learning experience, his continued presence in the academic setting is detrimental, and immediate action must be taken to remove him from a position where he can continue to harm students.

Get out Mike Miles. You only make learning stressful and hard for everyone. Before I moved to this district in 3rd grade, I woke up, excited and looking forward to school. Now, I feel like puking. I used to be so hopeless about this issue, but now that I found this petition, hopefully all troubles will go away. I am so happy this petition exists. #FIREMIKEMILES🔥🔥🔥

I care because this country was founded on freedom of religion. Muslims only have two holidays a year, and I would appreciate it very much if we could have those days off for religious observance. Thank you
Candi supported: HISD Removed Eid - Muslim Students Deserve Better
HISD should recognize Eid as an official school holiday, just as it does for other religious observances like Christmas and Good Friday. Islam is one of the largest religions in the world, and many students, teachers, and staff in the district celebrate Eid. By not giving a day off, HISD forces Muslim students to choose between their education and their faith, which is unfair and unequal. Recognizing Eid as a holiday promotes inclusivity and respects the diversity of the student body. Just like students of other faiths don’t have to miss school for their religious celebrations, Muslim students should have the same right. Many other school districts across the U.S., including in New York and Maryland, have already made this change, setting an example of fairness and equity. HISD prides itself on diversity, and making Eid a school holiday would reflect that commitment by ensuring all religious groups are treated equally.
