Many of us artists go to Discord to escape ai generated content, and create servers where we can share our creations. Adding this will fundamentally deconstruct these safe spaces for artists and other creators. DomoAi has no place on the Discord platform, and should have no place anywhere else

Generative AI uses plagiarised works. If you have ever spoken out, even in private conversation, about plagiarism being wrong - or for my fellow garment and cosplay makers, pattern ripping - you need to understand generative ai does this exact thing. Take pride in your work, or in the work of artists you admire. Do not allow bots like DomoAi to linger where they can be "trained" off artists' work without the artists' consent. If your argument that ai=/=theft because "theft is a human choice", I ask you to consider what made the Ai. Humans. Ai is programmed by humans. It is theft with a veil of plausible deniability.

Generative AI is extremely harmful to not only the earth in general but also the art communities that exist within discord. It strips people of creativity and also of jobs. For many of us, art pays the bills, I’m sure you can figure out why generative AI is harmful to artists.

Art is an talent not something to just carelessly make with AI. People waste hours to make such beautiful art. But to see AI make art in seconds discouraging for people who waste hours on making art.

DomoAI have added a unbannable, hidden, AI bot as a user to every server. I am highly concerned that this is aimed to scrape data from posted images and use it to train the model without consent. its user ID is 1153984868804468756, and while you *can* reveal its existence with "/ban 1153984868804468756", you can't permanently ban it or kick it or see it in the member list or UI. This is a breach of trust and needs to be stopped.

Everyone suffers from generative AI being a thing at all, between the environmental problems produced, the unprofessional reliance, and the abuse of artists and the people who train the AIs. So to let it creep it's way into discord, somewhere that is a place of privacy and community for those negatively affected by this is unthinkable.

Domoai needs to be banned because our art is genuinely inspiring to others, helping others get on track and go down the path of art if they so wish, AI can not achieve the level of inspiration that we can and if we have this generative AI taking our art and turning it into other pieces, not only do the artists feel invalidated, the community has nothing to be inspired from as there's not nearly as much love put into ai art than what there is in humanities

There have already been a lot of great points brought up about how image generation is harmful to artists, the environment, and businesses big and small. So I'm going to focus on how this is harmful to Discord specifically. Putting DomoAI into your service with no warning to your consumers damages our trust in your service. And when trust is damaged, people start looking for an alternative. When a friend showed me that DomoAI could be banned from servers where it didn't appear as a member, I was frankly horrified. That should not be something I have to worry about, a bot I don't want being able to scrape my data without my knowing. (/ban 1153984868804468756 if you wish to get rid of it for yourselves) Even if that's somehow not what it's doing, image generation has reached a point where it has been forced upon us and become untrustworthy in so many other spaces, that I cannot give this one the benefit of the doubt. This isn't just a matter of stolen art. It's dangerous stuff. How long before it gets to a point where people are generating fake images to cause some serious harm to people? Faking naked or sexual images of people, faking things that would get people faced with criminal charges? Stealing identities, scamming poor elders who haven't been able to keep up with current technology? Endangering the iPad children whose parents haven't taught them basic internet safety? It's not fair that this technology is out there and able to hurt people. Discord should be doing more to protect its users, not let them get hurt by stuff like this. I like Discord, I like using Discord to hang out with my friends and collaborate on fun art projects. I don't want to give it up. But they continue to pull stuff like this, I will look into alternatives. This is not okay. The loyalty of your customers is more valuable than the money you gain in the short term for this deal. They will leave if you betray them. Don't betray them.

As an artist it’s getting more and more annoying to have to GenAI-proof my works, or keep them safe somewhere, or whatever it is I need to do to keep GenAI’s wretched little hands off my work. Discord had been a safe-ish space where I could at least store works and stories relatively well, and now it’s also falling to GenAI? Unacceptable. GenAI has no place in our communities with how harmful it is to the earth, community, and artists all over the world.

As an artist I’m fundamentally against the idea of AI being used to take my work and conglomerate it with everyone else’s. It’s thievery and I don’t approve of any company using it for any reason
