Technology regulation is an increasingly important topic in todays interconnected world. With the rapid advancement of technology, concerns around data privacy, misinformation, and monopolistic practices have fueled the call for regulatory oversight. Petitions under this topic address issues such as ending tech companies exploitation of user data, holding social media platforms accountable for spreading misinformation, and breaking up tech giants to prevent monopolies.
One notable petition with thousands of signatures urges governments to implement stronger data protection laws to safeguard individuals privacy online. Another petition highlights the need for transparency and accountability from tech companies in handling misinformation on their platforms.

The AI being used to estimate the ages of players has proven time and time again how inaccurate it is. I’m in college, along with all of my friends, and I’m one of the only people in our group who has verified their age through ID (mainly out of my own naivety, I wish I had not given my ID to this god-awful corporation). I am correctly marked as 21+, but my friends, who are the same age as me, keep in mind, did the age check themselves when we went out together one day and were all incorrectly marked, with some being classified as anywhere from 12 down to 9 years old. We are all above twenty years of age.
This is incredibly concerning to me and only highlights how completely incompetent both Persona and Roblox are. If people in their twenties can be incorrectly marked as children, who’s to say predators can’t be incorrectly marked as well? Roblox is putting its players in danger and, in the process, killing its player base. And the fact that other people need to give their PERSONAL information out to correct this mistake is insane to me. I demand a complete overhaul of this system and the removal of AI from age verification entirely. We do not need adults being misclassified as children, or vice versa.
This new policy feels like a waking nightmare. I was slated to release my roleplay game in 2026, a passion project I've worked on for five years.
I cannot overstate the amount of time, energy, mental and emotional fortitude I have sunk into this dream.
My dream was to create a tightly-moderated D&D-inspired roleplay space where I could essentially DM for all ages and provide a meaningful and semi-educational social experience for mixed demographics.
Every aspect of this dream dies with this update. Besides the obvious that any meaningful roleplay community will vanish if age groups are segregated, moderation is impossible if I cannot tell what anyone even two years younger than me is saying. Taking on a DM/GM role is absolutely out of the question.
This entire concept was something that could only be achieved on Roblox. I thought that I was so lucky as a broke dev to be creating for an engine that accounted for technology, server space, and even marketing to an extent, and above all else so accessible to the demographics I felt would benefit from my game the most.
Android giving users choice has been the staple point of android OS.
Removing choices like sideloading apps is not the move.
I develop apps for myself, I do not want to be "an approved developer" I don't have time nor care for that.
This action also is the beginning of censorship, and monopolization of android OS. Android started as an open operating system, you have simply turned it into a reskinned Apple OS. Your choice to go anti-consumer is going to hurt. You are not "protecting" anyone
Android has always been about freedom. I've always loved side loading an app made by a line developer to complete a niche task/feature. My music player and compass app were side loaded from F Droid and I think it's super cool to be able to install custom versions of stock phone apps. I've side loaded a modded version of my camera app that brought Google Pixel's photosphere to my phone. How else would I have been able to do this without side loading?? There's no reason Android has to go this direction, it may just as well be called mock iOS if all the reasons I chose Android are taken away. May customization, freedom of how I use my phone, and innovation reign once again in the heart of Google's Android! PLEASE 🙏
As a regular user and a small developer, I find this measure deeply concerning. When I choose to buy an Android phone, it is with the expectation of having control over how I use it, not to face restrictions or censorship.
Tools like Knox and Play Integrity are already frustrating enough, and now it seems that even downloading applications from F-Droid or other nice Stores should be checked ?!
This undermines both user freedom and the open spirit that originally defined Android.
We have ( well we have to take it back) the right to create, modify, and use apps—and to communicate online—without being forced to give up anonymity. It is up to users to educate themselves about potential risks, not for GAFAM to decide on our behalf.
Only signing to leave a comment. Ppl here are saying that "mods should be allowed bc they don't effect other players"....this is very very untrue. Gooner mods very much negatively effect other players. Apparently these ppl have never heard of discord. I am a girl and I feel very uncomfortable in-game and on discord when the servers I'm in are filled with gooners. Sure discord requires NSFW channels for this content but never have I been in a server where the gooners respected that or respected my boundaries. I do not want to see the frankly gross stuff ppl do with these mods nor do I want to hear ppl talking about it. I am glad SE has taken a stance on these mods and I hope for them to take a hard stance on ALL third party tools and ALL mods bc yes. They do negatively effect other players. If you want to goon...do it in a single player game where you aren't forcing unwitting players into your fantasies.
