I’m a birder who goes to both Serendip and the You Yangs. I want to know what is going to happen to these valuable areas and what environmental protections will be put in place to preserve them for the future.
This place was a magical memory for me as a child and has been that memory for my children and will be that memory for their children. There has been enough destruction of our natural habitats, animals and birdlife.
It is a great shame that the voices of the community, the very people who have worked to protect and preserve the integrity of Serendip for years are ignored by Parks Vic, who are hell bent on changing Serendip from a loved sanctuary with its wildlife, endangered species breeding programs, a place where children and tourists a like could engage and learn, into an open park with no wild life except the occasional kangaroo and a ‘sensory’ garden in one small corner. Their vision is flawed and not what people want. This was expressed clearly in a well attended public meeting. It is a disgrace that Parks Vic refuse to listen and continue to allow the removal of all animals and degradation of the sanctuary. There is nothing to show for the $11 million promised from the government to restore the sanctuary. Parks VIC must be held to account .
I was devastated to see the deterioration since my previous visit. Where has the funding gone? Where have all the animals gone??! I’d love to see this beautiful area restored to its former glory
I lived across from the sanctuary when we were protesting the development across the rd
Our fear then it would become an urban park.Seems our concern was founded
I now live in southwest vic but encourage the voice of all Victorian's is heard as this is a parks vic site and belongs to all Victorian's
Serendip was such a vibrant place one with a school facility and captive breeding programs
It was a haven for wildlife and for visitors
It is heartbreaking to hear the council and parks vic continue to ignore it
