Forever chemicals, also known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), are a group of synthetic chemicals that are persistent in the environment and linked to serious health risks. Recent studies have highlighted the widespread contamination of water sources and the presence of PFAS in everyday products. Petitions under this topic focus on holding corporations and government agencies accountable for regulating these harmful chemicals, as well as advocating for clean-up efforts and public health protections.
One petition with thousands of signatures urges the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to set stricter standards for PFAS levels in drinking water, citing the health hazards associated with exposure. Another petition calls for increased transparency and regulation of PFAS in consumer products, emphasizing the need for safer alternatives.
Join the movement to address the threat of forever chemicals by supporting these petitions and raising awareness. Your involvement can pressure decision-makers to take action and protect communities from the harmful effects of PFAS contamination.
Please keep Alimagnet Park as it has been. Although I support recreation and people being involved in outdoor sporting activities, there are better locations to host a pickleball venue that wouldn’t negatively impact a valuable natural environment. Keep Alimagnet Park undisturbed from additional noise, light and pollution and allow it to serve the community in its current state for all to enjoy.
I’ve spent my childhood on this lake and have watched firsthand what the mismanagement of this watershed has done to the local biota. “Like winds and sunsets, wild things were taken for granted. Now we must ask ourselves whether a ‘higher standard of living’ is worth its cost in things natural, wild, and free.”- Aldo Leopold, A Sand County Almanac
I'm a nurse, and I would so much rather see some "weeds" than hurt any animals, children, or other citizens of our communities. Please find natural ways to remove problematic plants if you must, but above all else please keep poisons out of our plants, animals, water supply, and lives. I recommend the documentaries "Dark Waters" and "Into The Weeds" that show how chemical treatments hurt humans, not to mention wildlife. Thank you!
Please stop spraying pesticides! I have an outdoor adventure camp for children. We explore the parks, open spaces and bluffs on the coast. Please Stop!! There has to be a better way other than polluting children with toxic pesticides. Thank you!
Glysophate in particular is a known carcinogen. Monsanto and now Bauer have been sued for millions of dollars to people who have been sick. It’s mind boggling that chemicals are sprayed that can injury insects, animals and humans. It’s time to do the right thing and stop spraying of any kind.
