Animals rely on us and we are failing them. We need a better way to ensure medical care and LOW cost spay & neuter to help. No living being should be killed "for space" and thrown away! We must do better- our system is broken and must be fixed NOW!

Stormy supported: STOP EUTHANASIA IN CALIFORNIA ANIMAL SHELTERS 🛑✋As a foster for OCAC, I dispute the information in this petition. Yes, OCAC has to euthanize some cats and kittens. Rescues that claim to be “no kill” have every opportunity to step in to save these cats and kittens, but they are frequently “full” and cannot or will not accept any more cats or kittens. OCAC has limited funds, space and staffing. They go to extreme lengths to find fosters for these animals. I receive multiple pleas each day during kitten season begging for ANY foster long term or short term. They will split litters into smaller groups. They will accept very short term foster situations while they continue searching for long term fosters.
OCAC is prohibited from keeping unweaned kittens in their facility overnight where there are no funds for overnight staffing to bottle feed these kittens. OCAC IS prohibited from overcrowding in their facility, so they are forced to make very difficult choices to keep the number of animals within the permitted number.
How many of the OCAC cats and kittens are you currently fostering? If you want to help OCAC, you should be fostering for them. This morning, I have already received a plea for help from OCAC. THERE ARE 18 KITTENS THAT NEED FOSTERS SO FAR TODAY. This is everyday
Why don’t you petition Gavin Newsom to provide funds for more space at the shelter, overnight staffing, supplies and additional veterinary staff?
