Drug policy is a crucial topic with far-reaching implications for public health and criminal justice systems globally. Recent trends show a growing emphasis on harm reduction strategies and decriminalization of drug use in some countries to address the opioid crisis and reduce mass incarceration rates. Petitions under this topic highlight the need for policy reforms, such as advocating for access to addiction treatment programs, ending the war on drugs, and pushing for the legalization of certain substances for medical use.
One petition with tens of thousands of signatures calls for expanding access to safe injection sites to prevent overdose deaths and provide support for individuals struggling with addiction. Another petition urges lawmakers to prioritize rehabilitation over punishment for non-violent drug offenses, citing disparities in incarceration rates based on race and socio-economic status.
Join the movement to reform drug policies and promote evidence-based approaches to tackling substance abuse. Your support can help create a more compassionate and effective response to drug-related issues in communities around the world.
I'm saddened to hear about the story of Michelle West. I learned about her after watching the heartfelt movie Kemba. One thing I've learned in life is that everyone makes mistakes and needs a second chance. If the world was full of perfect people then there would be no Laws. Prison's wouldn't be packed, and there would be no justice system. I'm all for if you do the crime you do the time but that statement hits different when it comes to someone like Michelle West. I don't think that she should have to spend the rest of her life in prison all because she fell for the wrong guy. She deserves a second chance and God is going to give her that. Amen! 🙏🙏🙏
I served 3.5 years in federal prison for falling for an FBI firearm entrapment sale. It was a controversial situation and I was deeply grieved by it. Still am, somewhat. But I'm free and my life is great now. I want Ms. West to enjoy the same, to be free and reunited with her daughter and to enjoy the best of what's left for her in this life. Cases like hers are outrageous and a continuing indictment against our so-called justice system. If Joe Biden (who recently pardoned his own profligate son) won't do the right thing here, President Trump should. Enough is enough.
I grow my own meds to treat my back pain so I'm not taking all the painkillers the doctor wants to prescribe, but currently I am trapped in Colorado until Pennsylvania approves the right to grow at home. I just want to go home so my mom and dad can enjoy their grandkids. unfortunately getting caught trying to help myself would turn me into a felon, I'd probably get my kids taken and I would definitely go to jail under the current laws in pa. help me get home.
I have Psoriatic Arthritis and cannabis is the only medicine that brings me any relief from the stiffness and pain without taking opioid pain killers, which I hate.
