The fact that Vineland sits in the heart of the Town of Lincoln, and all the communities around us have been upgraded over the years, and yet Vineland sits untouched, is astounding.
Tragic Loss of Devkarn Singh.
We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Devkarn Singh, who drowned at Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this time of unimaginable grief.
It is profoundly disappointing to learn that despite urgent pleas for assistance, the RCMP reportedly stated they were not trained for underwater rescue and assumed he was already deceased. Even more troubling, critical time was lost while RCMP officers were allegedly on lunch breaks, and the appropriate rescue teams did not arrive until 14 hours later.
This heartbreaking loss highlights a serious failure in emergency response that must be addressed. A life was at stake, and the lack of timely action cost a family their son, brother, and loved one.
We mourn with the family and the entire community as we remember Devkarn Singh. May Waheguru bless his soul and give strength to his family in this incredibly difficult time.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
This wasn’t the first life lost due to the lack of emergency response system. There are countless mothers who never got to see the faces of their children due to flaws in RCMP procedures. This time it was a 20 year old young singh who had his whole life ahead, next time it could be someone from your family.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
Baba Ji was an insanely inspirational and selfless man he only wanted the best for others. I met Baba Devkarn singh ji at south Sikh society on December 22 of last year and ever since Baba Ji would give me life tips or how I could improve my life in general and as a gursikh. Baba Ji On the First day of meeting me and not even knowing who I was offered to give me santhiya on Dhan Dasam Granth sahib (Educating me about what the Dasam Granth says)
Which just left be feeling amazed that he would rather waste his time trying to educate me then himself. After December 22 we talked more and more and made plans for the summer this year and I’m very upset that this happened to Baba Ji . While he was drowning the RCMP was taking lunch breaks.. I can not express how much pain I feel for the family and I wish them the best as they recover from this tragedy. This truly is heartbreaking and disappointing that the RCMP couldn’t help save our beloved Singh.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
Veerji was a Singh we all young kids inspired to be like and the fact the RCMP brushed is accident off like that is a crime and racist if someone white were to drown would they have pushed saving Veerji off no they would take immediate action it is disappointing being born in a place like Canada and experiencing racism when are family’s came here for refuge for the racism we were trying to escape from
We lost our dear friend and if there could be more security he would be alive so please help us out and make change and raise your voice for this change to happen
Lost everything at east trout and if candle ignites my farm is only 25km straight through bush away!
My kids had to evacuate from Christopher lake area last night and my husband is working in laronge with ash falling on them and uncertain if highway 2 will be open for him to come home tomorrow!
That’s 4 different fires effecting me and my family!!!
Worried about the planning process for wildfires. East trout lake, we lost our cabin and 53 other structures. Images show a bridge was burnt down as only access to east trout. HOW was this ONLY means of access allowed to burn? Unorganized pre planning would point fingers to whomever was leading this. Disappointing to say the least. No call for a state of emergency by government. WHY? NO fire trucks dispatched WHY.? Does only the squeaky wheel get the grease in society now???? Us taxpayers demand answers
We live in a danger area. My husband has been having to put himself in danger to help protect our home and those of our neighbors every night this week. Our fire departments are stretched so thin right now, the Shoe/camp fire is engulfing and devouring everything in it's path.
Living in the constant fear of is this the day that embers land in our yard and take our home, or if we will need to rush home to help our neighbors move their cattle out of danger is exhausting.
My family’s cabin is very close to possibly being burnt down in these fires. We had to evacuate and now all we can do is watch. If I can somehow make a small difference to help everyone by signing and sharing this then I’m very happy to!
