Victories in Disasters and Emergency Management

If we stop speaking up, the problems we face will only continue to grow. Standing together and making our voices heard is part of our responsibility to protect the wellbeing, dignity and quality of life of our community. This is why we must continue advocating for weekly collections for everyone in Baw Baw.

Part of a suggested solution is to purchase another red bin. How many bins should we store on a property? Unsightly things taking up precious outdoor space.

My cat is solely inside and has her litter box cleaned and replaced every day. I don’t want used kitty litter sitting in a bin for 2 weeks. That is 14 bags of smelly litter. If that’s the case then that bin will be permanently left on the kerb.

Did you do any research here council? Was there evidence to suggest 50% of red bin waste in Baw Baw, could be condensed in each individual household prior to this decision? What do you think will result in this change?
Did you weigh the option, this new system could effectively encourage more illegal dumping?!
This idea is up there with the compostable plastics being 'forced' (Aldi) into a society that won't necessarily 'compost' their plastic. I'd like your waste team to research what happens to compostable plastics that find their way into landfill (as I imagine many are ending up there).

As a mum with toddlers in nappies, I’m expected to keep bags of piss and shit in my red bin for TWO WEEKS? The smell is unbearable by day 5. An extra bin doesn’t magically make the stench or health risks disappear. This is disgusting and completely unfair to families!

The solution is simple! Keep FOGO, collect it fortnightly and BRING BACK weekly general rubbish collection.

We demand the return of our weekly rubbish collection, the smell has begun, over filled bins. Between the winds n crows we now see rubbish throughout our streets. Dumping has also begun! The yellow bin is lucky to be a third full and the green hardly has a thing in it until the autumn leaves fall, it's such a waste of resources and the polluting smell. We already did all the right recycling as do most families. We need our rubbish collected weekly! And we don't want a larger bin for fortnight rubbish collection, as it stinks! Let the people choose the size of bins, for their needs!
