As a student who attended UC in part for its commitment to DEI initiatives that have sadly become underfunded at universities in my homestate, this is an incredible disappointment.
If education is a cornerstone of democracy, then removing its resources is a massive disservice to the nation’s future.

The student body is so diverse and contributes immensely to the school, this is a slap in the face. As a Mexican American, DAAP grad and former member of the Latinos en Accion committe, I am ashamed to say I graduated from UC. I demand a change and recommitment to your diverse student body and bring back DEI! SI SE PUEDE!!

UC owes current, past, and future students a vibrant and safe campus community to learn from and lead within, and the removal of DEI programming and initiatives will do the opposite. Allowing the dehumanization of trans students at UC moves the increasingly necessary and non-negotiable goal of a safe campus environment ever further and will not be tolerated. My daughter participated in Girl Scouts through her Catholic grade school, St Michael Sharonville for all eight years, and the experience was extremely beneficial for her. The Girl Scouts program provided her with invaluable leadership skills and reinforced the moral teachings that align with our faith. Additionally, community service was a cornerstone of her troop’s activities, allowing her to help the less fortunate and develop a strong sense of compassion and responsibility.
I believe that the Girl Scouts program complements the values we strive to instill in our children through their Catholic education. I respectfully urge you to reconsider this decision, as it impacts the development and growth of our young girls in such a positive and meaningful way.
Michelle supported: An Open Letter to the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio & A Petition to Archbishop SchnurrI was a Girl Scout leader of a troop of young girls from kindergarten until 10th year of high school that was associated with a Catholic elementary school. We exposed those girls to many activities that they would not have had the opportunity otherwise. The girls completed the Marian Award to help strengthen their faith. I am very disappointed with the Archdiocese over this issue. My scouts ( all adults now ) have told me how much scouts meant to them. The girls were able to try new activities in a safe way and they understood the concept of volunteering and helping others.

Removing the Girl Scouts from the grounds will damage these opportunities, relationships and hinder the service we provided for so many. It is sad and disappointing to say the least that a better agreement can’t be reached to preserve the tradition, history and positive impact the Girl Scouts has on our Catholic daughters lives.

Girl Scouts is a secular organization and troops can be tailored to our Catholic values. It was a positive experience for me, as well as my troop. I’m disappointed that Archbishop Schnurr does not trust Girl Scout leaders in Catholic Schools to lead their troops according to the beliefs and principles of the Catholic Church. Instead, it’s recommending the dishonestly-named American Heritage Girls. I can only fathom the lies that the leaders of AHG, a far-right fundamentalist non-inclusive organization, fed the Archbishop to gain his support. I will continue to support Girls Scouts through United Way and purchasing cookies. Also, instead of donating to the Catholic Ministries Appeal, I’ll direct my donation to Girl Scouts. Archbishop Schnurr - I ask you to prayerfully reconsider your stance.
