Budget cuts have become a pressing issue globally, impacting various sectors such as education, healthcare, and public services. Recent economic downturns and government austerity measures have resulted in reduced funding for essential programs, leading to layoffs, service reductions, and overall negative effects on communities. Petitions under this topic focus on urging policymakers to prioritize funding for critical areas, restore budget allocations, and prevent further cuts that harm vulnerable populations.
One petition with widespread support calls for increasing funding for mental health services in schools, highlighting the detrimental effects of budget cuts on students well-being. Another notable petition advocates for protecting public libraries from closure due to financial constraints, emphasizing the importance of these institutions as community resources for education and access to information.
Take action by exploring the petitions on budget cuts and raising your voice to support vital services and programs. Your involvement can influence decision-makers and make a difference in ensuring that essential resources are adequately funded for the benefit of all.
These people will never know the utter desperation and feeling of destitution living below poverty line having dependent and these benefits being in constant jeopardy of being either discontinued or limited, we live in a daily fear hoping and praying, I can’t walk I can barely bathe myself, after a botched surgery, my son has Medicade (12), we fully depend on these benefits and the ability to have immediate health care services, they can speculate, read analytical statistics etc but existing on that line and knowing life itself will crumble at the merely stroke of a key, for many many Americans, who wish and beg they could work could contribute and benefit society, … it’s a stark reality
I can't even begin to recall the happy, sometimes hot & sweaty(replete with biting insects), hours family and I spent camping out, occasionally fishing, at this-or-that state/national forest public-type camping area. All of us have long treasured such natural(and sometimes: spiritual)"retreats". Much as intended by far-sighted folk the likes of: Teddy Roosevelt, Gifford Pinchot, et al. Please keep these vital, and beautiful, places as they were meant to be: A sacred trust accessible to everyone in our country.
My mother died because she caught -diff in a nursing home, after she was unable to be alone due to her Parkinson’s and Dementia. We cared for her at home as long as we could, but a paid caregiver would have allowed her to stay home, and she would not have died like she did. Also, a part time paid caregiver, would have cost her insurances a lot less than that death home. It’s sorrowful. I have already accepted euthanasia as my end, should I become ill like my mother, and if there is no one ‘helping’ my sons to care for me. So yeah, this issue means something to me. Please just think how you’d feel if you couldn’t afford help for your Mom or your Dad. It’s painful. It’s unfair. It’s something that needs to change! Thank you.
A full-time counselor for our elementary schools is a non-negotiable for our children/students. Having an objective third party to help kids navigate challenges and conflicts they face day to day is a critical resource we can’t stand to lose.
Cutting counselors would mean sharing and not having a counselor present 100% of the time at our elementary school. You never know when you’re going need a counselor for a situation so this is absolutely unacceptable. It affects every child, even those with great social-emotional health already, as they are affected by what goes ok around them. Our kids can’t learn if they don’t have emotional awareness. Whether it’s an emotional moment happening in class or hopefully never a large school wide scary event, a counselor’s presence can be invaluable, these events can become memories that last forever and can lead to positive growth with the right people available
I am a stepdaughter of a retired CO. I can remember times when he came home really late due to having to be in the hospital due to an inmate biting him. There were a lot of times where he would work 12 hour shifts or even do doubles. That was not safe for him nor the inmates.
Now I have a granddaughter who wears the BLUES proudly! I fear everyday that she is safe from harm and diseases.
The scare is real folks!!! If you haven't worked behind the walls or a family member of someone who is, you don't have any idea of what it's like. For those of us who have had that experience, it's very scary and you always worry if your love one will be home safe and on time. We have to make these prisons safer!!
I STAND WITH OUR BLUES!!!!
Students in advanced program need four years of high school math to be competitive for STEM undergraduate programs.
