EGAD is such a special downtown area, we’d like to continue to support small, local artists and businesses. Real Estate offices wouldn’t increase foot traffic or bring more customers. Keep EGAD full of arts!
There are far too many small businesses & creatives that could benefit from the exposure of running their businesses in the heart of this ARTS district. Do not give that opportunity away to people who intend to monopolize on the area, leaving storefronts empty with inflated rent. It's not small businesses that leave the growth of the Eau Gallie Arts District stagnant, its corporate greed.
as an artist myself, this is beyond a horrible idea. we need to be able to have a space to continue to add soul and life into our community, not removing Eau Gallie’s heart. if you want to continue to destroy local businesses, and monopolize our community, run over to Viera. we do not need another one of those spaces. keep eau gallie for the arts.
Please do NOT ruin such a beautiful space with yet another building nobody in the community can enjoy, a huge number of people visit Eau Gallie purely FOR the arts and to support local businesses. Don't make the wrong choice here, support the merchants that are already there and then some!
Born and raised in FL, I lived in the Melbourne area long enough to remember when downtown was officially renamed Eau Gallie Arts District. And if councils and CEO's want to ignore the "ARTS" in that name, they have no real souls or hearts. Just slaves to money and greed. If they didn't lack spines, it would be local businesses, vendors, and artists only.
I have lived, shopped, wined, dined, and gathered with my community in EGAD since 2011. The arts district is different than Downtown Melbourne and Downtown Cocoa, it has its own special weirdness (and I mean that in a positive) and it has a lot of heart that sets it apart. It feels young where the other nearby downtowns have a maturity to them. EGAD is already wonderful and has so much potential to only be more great if we keep these scummy folks from farting up the neighborhood. If you let one in, another will come.. and another.. and another, and soon you'll have no art, no unique special places that set it apart, and a dead district.
