Black Lives Matter (BLM) is an international social movement formed in the United States in 2013, dedicated to fighting racism and anti-Black violence, particularly police brutality. The movement began as an online hashtag (#BlackLivesMatter) created by activists Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi in response to George Zimmerman's acquittal in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Black teenager, in February 2012. BLM operates as a decentralized movement with local chapters across the United States and globally, organizing grassroots activism to address systemic racism and racial inequality in the criminal justice system.

Black Lives Matter addresses persistent disparities in how law enforcement treats Black people, as they are killed by police at significantly higher rates than white people in the United States. The movement gained national prominence following high-profile police killings, particularly the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in New York City in 2014, and most notably George Floyd in Minneapolis in May 2020, whose death sparked over 450 major protests across the United States and three continents. The movement emphasizes that systemic racism and police brutality continue to affect Black communities, making ongoing advocacy for criminal justice reform and accountability essential.

I personally know what it feels like to have a disabled black son, and if the district can Make it better for them, ALL children will benefit. I say NO MORE SUFFERING to our Children, the District MUST MAKE THEM SAFE!!
i truly, feel for this student, my daughter went through similar situations, and was harmed by the schools actions as well of closing schools. She found joy and love through music and was able to keep the same support with music for 4 years, and it helped her so much, that she was able to have that consistency, but now,we are in the same place we were in years ago, with trying to find music and arts on a consistent basis, but thankfully she has a family member with instruments, but the schools needs to adopt this policy because if not, i've been following, how they've already taken 1 million in music away, even if allowed, this is not acceptable, and creates distrust from parents and caregivers, especially when the childs in special education with unique challenges. Where's there's funding without staff, they will continue to take, so I URGE EVERYONE to SIGN THIS PETITION and SPEAK UP AT BOARD MEETINGS, I have been following on facebook, tower of love foundation, and Following the meetings.... I pray this resolution is brought forth, Our childrens lives are WORTH IT and the time is TIcking....
OUr disabled students must be treated fairly and proviided joyful experience while being provided with the most safest environments with proper supports,
Our Disabled Black Students have suffered irreversable harm, and if the district don't act now, they will never recover or even regain all of the loss they have suffered due to abuse from neglect to their overall well being.
