Petition to home office, Amber Rudd MP

Ban Hezbollah in the UK in its entirety

Hezbollah is a Lebanese-based terrorist organisation banned throughout the world, including by the Arab League, United States, France and Israel, but not in the UK. This must change! Britain has only banned its "military" arm but not its "political" wing meaning there is a legal loophole that is currently allowing support for the organisation to grow. However Hezbollah, by its own admission, does not differentiate between its political and military wings. The flag, which features an assault rifle, is used for both. There is no difference! Hezbollah should be banned in the UK entirely. Hezbollah calls for Islamist revolution around the world, has carried out terror attacks for over 30 years, and calls for the “liberation of Jerusalem” and for the destruction of Israel. Backed by Iran, it has tens of thousands of rockets that can reach every city in Israel. Hezbollah is an anti-Israel, anti-West organisation that should NOT be allowed in Britain, yet on Sunday 18 June its supporters marched through central London flying Hezbollah flags. Organisers used the legal loophole to encourage protesters to carry the flag at the Al Quds march, which is an annual day created to call for the destruction of Israel.  Enough is enough. If Britain is to genuinely say "no to terror" then all terrorist organisations must be banned without compromise. Following the Arab League and United States in proscribing Hezbollah is one simple step that the UK Government can take in ensuring that extremism will not be tolerated in this country. Therefore, we call upon the UK Government to ban Hezbollah in the UK in its entirety.

Free Nazanin Ratcliffe

My wife Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 37 year old charity worker, was on holiday visiting her family in Iran. She was at the airport returning to the UK on the 3rd April when she was detained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. She has been transferred to an unknown location in Kerman Province, 1,000 kilometres south of Tehran, and is being held in solitary confinement. Gabriella Ratcliffe our 22 month old daughter (who has British citizenship only) has had her British passport confiscated, and is stranded in Iran with her grandparents. Nazanin has not been allowed to access a lawyer or her daughter. She has not been able to call out of the country to speak to me, her British husband, and the Red Cross have not been able to make contact. There have been no charges. Nazanin has informed her family that she has been required to sign a confession under duress, its content unknown. Her family have been informed that the investigation relates to an issue of ‘national security’. It is hard to understand how a young mother and her small child on holiday could be considered an issue of national security. She has been to Iran to visit her family regularly since making Britain her home. Nazanin currently works as a project manager for the Thomson-Reuters Foundation; which delivers charitable projects around the world. It does not work in Iran. Nazanin has now been in solitary confinement for over 30 days. Please help bring my wife and daughter home by signing my petition calling on our Prime Minister Theresa May to use her power and intervene.

Petition to Governments of Iran & UK & EU, President Hassan Rouhani, HR Federica Mogherini, Theresa May MP, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani

Please let Grandpa come home

My dad Kamal Foroughi is a 77 year old British-Iranian granddad. He is being held in an Iranian prison. He has been denied visitors and critical medical attention for over six years.  Amnesty International say that 'his health is deteriorating and he is in need of specialised medical care outside prison'. We, my dad's family, live in the UK and are terrified he will soon die. He is one of the oldest and loneliest prisoners in Iran.  Dad has been held in Evin Prison since May 2011, when he was taken in for questioning without an arrest warrant or explanation. In 2013, he was found guilty of espionage. This has been a terrible mistake. Dad is not a spy, he is a granddad who loves spending time with his family and friends, playing tennis and watching Wimbledon on TV. We have seen no evidence to justify the charge. Iran generally lets prisoners free at half their sentence for good behaviour. For Dad this was last May 2015 and his behaviour has been impeccable. Despite many assurances, he was not released and we do not know why. Our family is distraught. My dad, Kamal Foroughi, has not seen us for over six years and his granddaughters keep asking "When is Grandpa coming home?" Please help end our nightmare by signing this petition to encourage the UK Government and Iranian authorities to bring Kamal Foroughi home on compassionate grounds and allow him to spend the rest of his life in peace with his family, where we can look after him. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani, Head of the Judiciary Ayatollah Larijani, Iran: Please show compassion and let Grandpa Kamal Foroughi come home to his family.   Prime Minister Theresa May, UK, and HR Federica Mogherini, EU: Please continue to treat Grandpa Kamal Foroughi’s case as highest priority in your dealings with Iran.

Petition to Sadiq Khan, Asghar Farhadi, Boris Johnson MP

London must tell Tehran to #FreeNazanin at Mayor's screening of Iran Oscar film

[IN فارسی BELOW] IMAGE: METRO with thanks Dear Sadiq Khan British-Iranian mother Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe needs urgent medical attention which she has been denied access to by a judge in Iran.  She is currently serving a five-year sentence there issued by a secret court under charges that remain unclear.  Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe should not be in jail. We call on you to demand her release, both to receive medical care and to return to her home in London with her daughter.  Nazanin has been treated appallingly by Iranian authorities – she has suffered solitary confinement and was even threatened with losing custody if she did not agree to keep two-year-old Gabriella in prison with her. Were it not for the efforts of her husband Richard, she would be forgotten – and we cannot let that happen. The screening of Asghar Farhadi's Oscar-nominated film ‘The Salesman’ in Trafalgar Square on 26 February is driven by righteous indignation at President Trump’s travel ban – but it also serves as a signal to Tehran that is it is business as usual in London regardless of who occupies the White House. With 10,000 people expected to attend, including speakers such as Mike Leigh and Lily Cole, this is surely an opportunity for Londoners to join and say we: “Free Nazanin – let her come home with her daughter. Enough’s enough.” As Mayor to thousands of Londoners who have been exiled by the Islamic Republic of Iran, many of whom arrived following the killings of the summer of 2009, it is surely right to make Tehran aware that arbitrary detention of a UK citizen – dual national or otherwise – is unacceptable. Along with the message to Mr Trump, we  urge you to send a message to the president  the Islamic Republic: Britons will not stand for arbitrary detention of a UK citizen. Iran’s filmmaking is world class but so is its human rights abuse – we must hold it to account.  Peyvand Khorsandi UPDATE: This petition supports the #FreeGrandpaKamal campaign for the release of Londoner Kamal Foroughi who is also currently in jail in Iran, his case highlighted by Amnesty International.
