Designing new olive oil procedure with zero waste
Olive oil mills wastewater is a big problem in the countries that produce olive oil. There are so many treatment procedures about OMW ( Olive Mill Wastewater) but none of them treat it 100% environmentally friendly. At my Ph.D. I have designed a procedure where produce 0 wastewater in laboratory scale. The problem is that European Union sponsors those who produce OMW to treat them and so the procedure I have to design is not business profitable yet because there is not in pilot scale. I want to solve the big problem of OMW from Mediterranean area and change the way olive oil produce to better. The main problem with both three-phase and two-phase mill waste is its large organic load and its high concentration of phenolic. Our first objective was to characterize the olive fruit’s organic, inorganic and water loads in order to understand better the source of the organic and phenolic loads which would try to isolate later on. The first step was to identify the source of the organic load and managed it in a way to be isolated from this process, even before the production of olive oil. The second big problem of waste waters is the phenolic substances. The two-phase olive oil production process theoretically could be a process with zero waste if the solid waste could be used as animal feed. This think cannot be done because of the organic load and phenolic load. Here appears the second major objective of this study, to the optimal extraction of phenolic from the path of the olives before they even started the production of olive oil production. Finally, after two extensive parametric studies, we designed a flowchart of a plan for the production of olive oil with zero waste. In this new process, the first step is the export of the kernel from olives. This why the first parametric study showed that this is a source of the bigger bulk of the organic load of waste. The second step is the extraction of water-soluble phenolic from the path. The process ends with the export of olive oil from the olive fruit in an existing classic two-phase production unit of olive oil. It is important to mention that due to a few olives and the restriction on mechanical equipment did not become a research for the quality of the new olive oil. It is assumed that the process designed will be functional for the reason that does not differ at all from the olive oil production process 2 phases, disregarding the removal of the kernel. To enable this work to take flesh and bones more needs to be done. First, we have to make experiments in different olive varieties, with different ripening conditions to specify the most suitable conditions for the receipt of phenolic compounds and the quality of olive oil. Yet equally important is to make the full costing as much as the mechanical equipment as well as energy requirements to substantiate whether the process is cost-effective to implement.

AGAINST THE GREEK LAW THAT WANTS ATVS OUT OF THE STREETS.
The Greek government wants to pass a law that will ban all atvs and utvs from the roads. This is against all EU laws. The economical disaster will be huge and will devastate all people that are involved . From rental businesses, garage service, import companies and tourism. Atvs are really popular cause are safe cheaper than a car and really easy to use also from people that have physical disabilities. They are also popular to tourists that visit Greek islands and they want to explore their destination in a safe and fun way.In Greece there are about 3500 businesses that rent ATVS.The economic disaster will be huge and they are going to bankruptcy. The official police report has shown that only 0.4% of the accidents in Greece are with ATVS. The smallest percentage actually. To get an idea 0.7% are the accidents with the bicycles. Therefore,we want your help to stop this unfair law from being voted. Please sign the petition and help us.
Petition to German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere, Parliamentary Secretary Ole Schröder, President of the BAMF Jutta Cordt
Family Reunification from Greece: Let them be together again!
My name is Michael. I’ve been working in Greece as a volunteer for Mobile Info Team for more than a year now. I provide information on asylum procedures and legal support for refugees. Most of the people I speak to are trying to get back to loved ones. They’re going through what’s called a ‘Dublin procedure’ for family reunification. This takes up to eleven months. Currently there are more than 2000 people waiting to do this in Greece. In March, the German Interior Minister, Thomas de Maizière, requested a restriction on these transfers, starting in April. Before then, Germany was reunifying over 300 people a month, now it’s around 70. If this continues, even people who have had their transfer approved could be waiting for another 3 years or might not even be allowed to fly. Mahmoud, 27 years old from Syria, has been in Greece for more than 18 months. His mother is sick and his brother has Down Syndrome. They are both in Germany. His sick mother has to take care of his brother around the clock, and that only makes her illness worse. She is alone and close to a breakdown. Mahmoud wants to be there and take care of them. “It is nearly unbearable,” he told me. “I can’t stand by their side, now when they need me so much. I don’t know how my mother can make it through so long without me.” Since we learned about the restriction, I’ve received dozens of calls and messages from desperate mothers, husbands, and siblings. They wish for nothing more than to start a new life with their families. They cannot understand why it’s taking so long. Lives are being put on hold. Many people have been here since the beginning of 2016. They are tired and feel powerless. They’re in an endless state of transit. This cannot continue. I urge Minister de Maizière to remove this limit immediately. Family unity is a human right! We’re collecting letters from people affected. We’re translating and sending them to Mr de Maizière, to make sure he understands what they’re going through. With your signatures behind their voices, we can force Mr de Maizière to listen to Mahmoud and the thousands of families who remain separated, and make him lift the restriction. Mr. Erdogan: Stop targeting Syrian cultural heritage in Afrin area
Last month, Mr. Erdogan's warplanes targeted the temple of Ain Dara, an Aramean (Iron Age Syro-Hittite) temple in the Afrin area. The temple is known to be open and small (20x30 m2). Mr. Erdogan's regime claimed there were Kurdish fighters hiding !!. Yesterday, Brad (aka Barad) was targeted and destroyed by Mr. Erdogan’s warplanes for the same "claim". Brad is one of 40 ancient villages of Northern Syria, which are registered as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO (ref. # 1348) and are full of monuments of high historical, architectural and ideological values, i.e. Bara, Saint Simeon Stylites, Cyrrhus, Jerada, and Serjilla. The site of Brad was restorated in 2008 as a holy visit place for Maronite Christians from around the world. These 40 villages represent the rural life during the Byzantine period in a well-preserved landscape that offer testimony to the inhabitants' mastery of agricultural production. If we do not stop the aggression and the "Ottoman dreams" of Mr. Erdogan, many sites would be killed, and consequently the memories and history of the peoples in the region.

Tell Google Maps to Stop Referring to the Republic of Macedonia as FYROM!
The League of Macedonian-Americans (LOMA), along with ethnic Macedonians throughout the world, demands that Google Maps stop referring to Macedonia as "Macedonia (FYROM)". The name "FYROM" is both inaccurate and insulting. Google has no legitimate reason to place the term "FYROM" next to or below Macedonia's name on Google Maps. "FYROM" is not a temporary name for Macedonia. "FYROM" is not an internationally accepted name for Macedonia. Rather, Macedonia is recognized as the Republic of Macedonia by almost three-fourths of the world's countries. Many other countries have no known or official stance on Macedonia's name. Perhaps Google refers to Macedonia as "FYROM" because this is what Greece and/or Greeks have requested. However, this claim has no legal basis. UN Security Council Resolution 817 (1993) states that Macedonia should be "provisionally referred to for all purposes within the United Nations as 'the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.'" Some key points of consideration with respect to this resolution: The acronym "FYROM" does not appear in the resolution; "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" is not a name but a reference; and The reference "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" is only to be used for purposes within the United Nations. In addition, the term "FYROM" is insulting to ethnic Macedonians because Macedonia's southern neighbor uses that term to deny the ethnic identity of the Macedonians. We Macedonians are nothing but Macedonians. But the Greeks do not believe we Macedonians have the right to identify ourselves; the Greek government does not believe Macedonia has the right to self-determine its name and identity. Further, even though several international human rights groups have found that a significant ethnic Macedonian minority resides in Greece, those Macedonians do not have the right to identify as ethnic Macedonians. Instead, Greece refers to Macedonians as "FYROMIANS", and usage of the term "FYROM" by others enables Greece's discriminatory tendencies. Thus, by continuing to refer to Macedonia as "FYROM", Google inadvertently promotes Greece's discrimination against ethnic Macedonians and intentionally treats Macedonians differently than all other peoples and nations by only referring to Macedonia by a name it has not chosen for itself. Therefore, we call on Google to end its insulting, inappropriate and incorrect assault on the Macedonian country, people and identity. The Republic of Macedonia only has one name -- Macedonia! Sincerely, The Undersigned
