Since my last update, two US care wingers, one US expat from Indonesia, have signed the petition. Two countries, Côte d’Ivoire and Kazakhstan, have recommitted themselves to human rights multilateralism at the United Nations.
MULTILATERALISM means partner participation. Your action plan is requested.
At the last update, I clarified that we’re looking for multilateral partners, not just individual one-off signatures.
Multilateralism literally means the principle of participation by three or more parties, especially by the governments of different countries. I asked petitioners and potential endorsers to email their action plan or endorsements to admin@empathysurplus.com.
But so far - silence.
You committed yourself to teach, educate, and promote human rights “by progressive measures.”
“Every individual and every organ of society” is needed to build a caring society, based on human rights. Petitioners have teaching, educating, and promoting duties “by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance…”
Re-read the UDHR Preamble Proclamation, and then email me your action plan.
“Now, therefore,
The General Assembly
proclaims
this Universal Declaration of Human Rights
as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations, to the end that every individual and every organ of society, keeping this Declaration constantly in mind, shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance, both among the peoples of Member States themselves and among the peoples of territories under their jurisdiction.”
Why is USA multilateralism for human rights, represented by you, important?
Cruel wingers have attacked UN human rights multilateralism from the beginning, which is why the US Senate has NEVER ratified and enabled any human rights treaty.
The biggest problem is that your neighbor has probably never heard of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). I recently met a candidate for the US Congress from the State of Ohio who had not heard of the UDHR.
We have to demand that public schools help students learn to cultivate empathy and learn about the UDHR. The moral basis of the UDHR is empathy for and responsibility to humanity, as spelled out in the Preamble and Articles 1, 2, and 28-30.
Therefore, please consider sending your plan of action and or endorsement to Empathy Surplus Network USA at admin@empathysurplus.com.
