Canadian legislation like C18, C10,C11 etc, made it possible for tv, radio, newspaper, billboards, video games, all social media to legally lie to us while removing all liability from the original news or entertainment outlet. This betrayal has lead to many adverse health issues, social and family discord, life difficulties and disconnect. Many have lost family due to the legal lies promoted which stated medical procedures were safe and effective, when in fact they were harmful. In many cases taking loved one’s well being or ending their lives. This is a travesty and crime against our families on the one to one level.

Two years ago, I suddenly started having blood in my stool. My family has a history of colon cancer, with my maternal grandfather dying from it. I debated for months on whether or not to seek treatment because I was under the age requirements that allowed for the preventive colonoscopy, which means I’d have to pay out of pocket. Then, my younger brother began having the same issues. This solidified my decision to seek treatment, even though it would cause financial hardship. The results were thankfully negative; however, I was left with a 4k bill that I am STILL paying off. Many young people, like myself, may opt to ‘ride it out’ because of the medical cost and, unfortunately, this could cost them their lives. It’s time that insurers and lawmakers start listening to the FACTS- we are dying. Lower the age of colon cancer screenings! We pay our premiums and use our benefits MINIMALLY (generally speaking). Why are we not allowed this one service that could potentially save our lives? From a cost ratio aspect, it would cost insurers LESS to offer benefits for the screenings than to pay for our treatments if we are diagnosed with colon cancer. Fix the problem.

I’m 43 and have had 6 friends my age pass away from colon cancer or stomach cancer. This is not ok. I should not be loosing friends so young to an illness that can be stopped if found early. This needs to change mandatory screening from symptoms needs to happen & open conversations & awareness campaigns also need to happen in the community & doctors offices.
