my three boys are eagle scouts, my grandsons and nephews are on their way to becoming eagle scouts. There is nothing “woke” about scouting unless you call inclusion woke. i call that

I am a dedicated person. I have been in the scouting program for as long as I can remember. I have yet to find someone who likes this name change. I see it as tarnishing a WW1 veterans name and honor. Scouting has been around for 115 years and this sudden name change should have been asked by the troops that make Boy Scouts work not the people that watch. I am a Life scout.

The removal of Eagle Scout projects sets an undesired precedent to both the scouting community and the non-profit recipient domain. To remove this project tells the young scouts that their projects are not timeless, and their work is in vain - and hinders Eagle Scout projects for other organizations in the future. This ripple effect is likely unknown to whomever is planning this parking lot - but to the people that have spent countless hours working on their own, and multiple other Eagle projects, it is seen and felt.

As a former Boy Scout Advancement Chair and teacher at Mary of Nazareth, it is heart breaking to think our Scouts carefully planning. Project selection and implementation would be ripped up and thrown away. Each project has provided an improvement or space for reflection at the church. Surely there is a way to provide parking without throwing away the scout projects that were given to add to the church grounds. •

As an Eagle Scout and Catholic myself it is disheartening to hear that a decision of this magnitude is being made without taking into the account those who fundraised, led, executed, and dedicated these projects to the church. I would truly like to believe this decision was being made without knowing the immense impact that the Scouting program, and these projects, have on participants, parents, and the entire community. The foundation of the scouting program is based on life skills, leadership and community service. Nearly 10 years after I have “aged out” from the program, I still have great pride for my Eagle Scout project, and several other projects that I have helped provide to the community. It is wonderful that the church is growing, and as a result extra parking is needed, however this decision without consultation is extremely embarrassing and unacceptable. The church can not continue to grow without the community, and destroying these community service projects is a display of blatant hypocrisy. I hope and pray that you reconsider your decision which impacts the community in a negative way. Let’s grow together.

I am an adult leader with Troop 1640. I have personally helped on most of the projects to be removed. One of them (Jesus and the Children) is my son Ryan's Eagle Scout project. The amount of sweat equity put into these projects is incredible. Most people don't realize the amount of hard work that goes into these projects. To remove them sends a bad message to youth. Eagle Scout projects are to be cherished and encouraged, not removed.

I'm a girl in Scouts BSA, and I personally enjoy it. I think that girl scouts focuses less on real life and survival skills, and more on crafts and 'life hacks'. This is why I chose Scouts BSA over girl scouts. I think people should be more open to having girls in the Scouting organization because some girls would rather learn survival skills and character-buliding, and people need to respect and accept that not all girls want to join girl scouts to learn how to make light-up cards and sell cookies.
