Good Morning Petitioners!
This past week has been a busy one.
First of all our Chickasaw Council President, Johnny Pitts, agreed to meet with me this past Monday and talk. "Over 800 signatures on this petition is something I cannot ignore." After a two and a half hour long discussion he agreed to allow me to speak to the Council Board and express our concerns at its meeting on Thursday.
At the Board Meeting I drove home point after point on why we lose so much more then we gain in this decision.
- The constant support he brings
- His long list of contacts and volunteer base
- The institutional knowledge he holds
- His unwavering selfless service
Even though my words resonated with many there, the board did not change their minds. They stood their ground and insisted that there was no way they could afford Jeremy.
We all know that we can't afford to do this without him.
However a possible solution has been made The Kia Kima Alumni Association is considering offering Jeremy a paid position with the Association so that he can continue his support of both Kia Kima and Camp Currier. We are still working on what that position would look like and how it would function with the Council, but it is a ray of hope for our efforts.
The Alumni Association is having its annual Banquet and Business Meeting this coming Wednesday the 14th at the new Villa Castrioti in Lakeland. Several of the board members hope to be able to announce something regarding this possible position at that meeting.
If you haven't registered to go to the event, I highly encourage you to! The banquet is always a lot of fun and its a great time to reconnect with other Kia Kima Alums. Here is the link to the event calendar for KKAA

Please come and show your support for Jeremy and Kia Kima.
Thank you to everyone who has been involved with the petition efforts. I will continue to keep you updated. See you all on Wednesday. Thanks!
