YouTube needs a BLOCK button NOW!📣
YouTube needs a BLOCK button NOW!📣
The Issue
YouTube Needs a Real Block Button — Now
YouTube is the only major social platform where “blocking” someone does not stop them from:
• Viewing your channel
• Watching your videos
• Downloading or saving your content
• Tracking your activity
• Reappearing under new accounts
This is a safety failure, not a missing feature.
Why This Matters
Millions of creators — especially women, minors, & survivors of harassment or abuse — are left exposed.
A stalker can be “blocked” yet still:
• Monitor your uploads
• Watch every video
• Track your schedule
• Continue digital harassment silently
Forced visibility is not protection.
Shadowbanning Isn’t Safety
YouTube’s current tools only hide comments.
They do nothing to stop:
• Viewing
• Downloading
• Monitoring
• Re‑engagement
• Persistent stalking
• Subscribing
Creators deserve actual control over who can access their content.
Every Other Platform Already Solved This
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Twitter/X — all have true block features that cut off access at the account level.
YouTube is an exception.
The Solution Is Technically Simple
A real block button can be implemented using:
• Account‑level access restrictions
• Device fingerprinting
• IP‑range throttling
• OAuth permission denial
This is not a hard engineering problem.
It’s a policy choice.
What We’re Asking For
A true creator‑side block feature that prevents a blocked user from:
• Viewing the channel
• Viewing any videos
• Commenting
• Downloading
• Using content in playlists
• Contacting the creator
• Reappearing under new comments
• Subscribing
• Being able to follow users via multiple accounts (Many major platforms have already long implemented a feature in addition to basic account-level blocking that let’s you also block ‘new accounts they may create’
Creators deserve basic digital safety.
Why I’m Petitioning
I’m speaking as someone with lived experience — someone who knows the harm of being forced visible to people who should not have access to you.
While the fight for a true YouTube block button is not new
This petition is for:
• Survivors
• Creators
• Children
• Anyone who needs protection online
YouTube must close this gap.
Especially for our youth whom are most vulnerable online and for survivors of intimate partner violence.
Sign today to demand YouTube, a network we all love and learn through, implement this basic safety necessity.
Thank you.
