The current Worcester Twp ordinance chapter 150 (zoning) article XXIV (general regulations) and section 150-200 (exterior lighting) does NOT allow the installation of illumination at the Methacton High School athletic fields 12 feet above grade. The installation of illumination will allow athletic and extra-curriculum activities to safely engage in activities outside of daylight hours. Examples of benefits of having illumination are: the marching band practices will be safer and more effective (currently held in dimly lit parking lot), ability for school and community athletic teams to practice in the fall and spring when daylight ceases early, the ability to hold Friday night games for various athletic teams creating community environment, building school spirit, and allowing working parents to watch and support their children.
