Junk mail is a waste of resources and energy. As we approach a climate crisis it is a no brainer that it needs to go.

Australia is struggling to manage recycling and currently many councils across Australia cannot recycle at all. Therefore we can safely assume that the vast majority of these catalogs will end up in landfill. There is no place in a planet facing climate change for the volume of catalogues that land in our mail boxes daily. 

In planning for a viable future for the planet one simple thing we can do is petition the organisations that assault us daily with their advertising material to stop. It is the next step from banning plastic bags. 

As a mother of a young child who worries about the future of all of our children, I was dismayed to come home this evening to find 12 catalogues in my mail box despite a very clear “no junk mail” sticker. My council is not currently recycling due to the closure of our recycling so all recycling will go to landfill.
