Puppy Petition

Mar 25, 2016
This is Lola. She was bought from Linton Pet Shop in 2015. She is one of the lucky pups as she survived, however was very poorly. Well... I say she survived, she was returned to the owner of Linton's so we don't actually know what happened to her. This is her story in her previous owner's words.
This is Lola. A golden cocker spaniel female born on February 9th and purchased on Sunday 12th April from the Linton pet store based in the Ladds garden village, Bath Road, Reading.
On collecting the puppy late Sunday afternoon, she was sick in the shop and on bringing her home her condition worsened through the night. On Monday morning we took her to Dentons vetinary surgery in Wokingham where the puppy was diagnosed with an infection called parvovirus. As there was a 72 hour return clause, the vet strongly recommended to take the puppy back to the store even though she felt the puppy required immediate treatment. On phoning the owner of the store, I explained the situation and was given assurances that we would receive a refund but more importantly that he would take the puppy to his vet for attention. On returning the puppy he was most scathing of any other vet other than his own and dismissed the report that I gave him from Dentons.
I insisted that he gave assurances that he would take the puppy to his vet and give us a report with regard to her health and welfare. He promised to do so and phone us later in the day. A refund was given begrudgingly with no apparent empathy for ourselves or the puppy.
He did not phone so I phoned the shop and was told he was not there and he would phone back the following day. He did not so I phoned several times and was told he was not there and on insisting that I had a copy of the vets report. A lady phoned me back and said the puppy had been given an injection and put on a course of antibiotics and was recovering at the owners home. Considering our vet had recommended an immediate drip and isolation, this did not seem right. As the owner still had not contacted us, I decided to contact the RSPCA who recommended that I contacted the local authority to check that all the relevant licences were in place. I contacted Reading council and Wokingham Council.
