Another sad story of a puppy bought from Linton Pet Shop. This is his story in the words of his owner. I brought a pug puppy from Linton's in February 2014. We had Frankie for a total of 6 weeks and in this time only 13 days at home. The rest were spent at the vets or in swindon at a specialist hospital. He had numerous birth defects including a liver shunt, abnormal back bones, abnormally small trachea and heart defects. Wokingham council told me they could never take action as no one could prove beyond all reasonable doubt that a puppy was born with defects but Frankie was and proof from my vet and specialist was sent to them/trading standards and the RSPCA and basically ignored! His symptoms started within 48 hours of picking him up from Lintons. I wrote to lintons twice and all they said was that i could have taken Frankie back and given another puppy. Their response was clear that they don't give a monkeys about the welfare of the animals. It never even crossed my mind to give him back. I paid cash for him (£1400.00). I was told out right that Frankie was a puppy from their own dogs (they have two pugs that usually walk around the shop) but infact he came from Malta. I had his KC certificate looked at by the Kennel Club and trading standards. Luckily my mums best friend is from After a bit of digging we found that the breeder of frankie had a family member that worked at the Maltese kennel club! We had doubts on frankies age. He was tiny, but the vet said this could have been down to his numerous birth defects and not growing properly. She was so shocked he had even made the flight to the UK and said without a doubt he would have shown very obvious signs of being severely ill from a very early age. Unfortunately when Frankie died we had him cremated so by the time we were asked to prove his age he was already cremated. Despite the absolute heart break and financial back breaking ( we spent £7000.00 in total) i wouldn't change a thing as even the vet said we gave him the best chance possible of surviving. I hate to think what would have happened to him otherwise.
