Puppy Petition

Mar 24, 2016
This is Oscar; bought from Linton Pet Shop & put to sleep aged 3 years old due to behavioural issues. This is his story in the words of his owner.
We purchased a Shitzu puppy from Linton pet stores in 2011 He was physically weak from the outset with blood coming from his bottom and developed no teeth for a long while (perhaps pointing to him being a very young age). We got him as company for our Shuitzu/ Tibetan terrier cross, and I have to say we stupidly bought him on impulse wanting to give him a good home as he looked so sad.
Within a very short space of time it became clear that he had horrendous behavioural issues , akin to that of a jackal and Hyde character , becoming very aggressive and using those teeth to full effect when through . He was needy and could be so loving but was so unpredictable that we had to shut him away when we had visitors as he bit and attacked savagely .
We had two behaviourists who both summised that he may well have been puppy farmed due to his behavioural problems. He was almost impossible to groom , and the vets couldn't examine him properly as he was so volatile . Hard as we tried and despite loving him we had to take the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep after he attacked me ( again amongst others ) in October 2014 . I couldn't risk him doing that to a child and knew he would be impossible to re-home . Apart from the emotional distress ( and this was considerable ) we spent around £800 on behaviourists trying to find a solution.
I know the difference between a stable , healthy well balanced dog , Our other dog who came from a family home and we met both her mother and father, and a physically unwell ( he was developing cateracts ) and emotionally unstable dog , Oscar . I am 100% certain this was due to his appalling start in life .
I spoke to Linton when he was sick at the start , they simply told me to bring him back which I wasn't prepared to do . When we had him put to sleep I called again as I was so distraught and angry about when we'd been through . They just said they were sorry but weren't responsible as the shop had new owners . Apart from the terrible trade of puppy farming and we all know that's what this is , Oscar was a dangerous dog . Heaven forbid that one day another emotionally disturbed dog from this place savages a child's face , because apart from the heartbreak of having a sick animal this is a distinct possibility.
I have emailed WBC with my story , it baffles me that they still issue the licence to this vile place , it's a disgrace .
