Withdraw Amendment 8 now - STOP the exclusion of disabled people and Carers
The Issue
Sign this petition to support the withdrawal of Amendment 8 to the proposed anti discrimination legislation for Guernsey as it excludes disabled people and carers from accessing the same standard of life as everyone else.
The amendment is proposed by Deputy Chris Blin, seconded by Deputy David De Lisle and the amendment ‘coordinator’ is Deputy Carl Meerveld.
They believe that small businesses, which make up 63% of organisations in Guernsey, should be allowed to discriminate against disabled people and their carers. This could exclude people from accessing work, goods and services that are available to the rest of the community.
We cannot leave anyone behind - if we don’t cover everyone from discrimination in all settings then the legislation will be ineffective for the people who need it most.
If you’d like to know more about the reasons why this amendment is so damaging you can click here.
And when it comes to the next election remember who voted for Amendment 8 and who stood against amendment 8!
