Bring A New AMC Theater To Palm Beach County (To Replace AMC West Palm Beach 12)

The Issue

After 23 amazing years of the AMC West Palm Beach 12 theater (which was also previously called Muvico and Carmike), it has closed down for good. This means that the entirety of Palm Beach County has no AMC theater in the area (the closest would be Pompano Beach in Broward). In addition, this now drops to only one IMAX theater available in the county (Paragon Theater in Delray Beach), no Dolby Theater in the area, and only one theater within the area that has movie subscription level to A-List (Regal Royal Beach with Regal Unlimited).

As the result of AMC West Palm Beach's closing, many Palm Beach County residents are going to miss out on watching movies in the best viewing experiences, especially with a very packed 2023 summer movie schedule coming subsequently. Despite this setback, I am creating this petition to encourage AMC theaters corporation to look for a new location within Palm Beach County and even expediate plans to open one up in the next year.

If there are plans insight, many Palm Beach residents want an AMC theater that replicates the premium offerings from the AMC West Palm Beach 12. This includes a brand new IMAX auditorium, either equivalent or even bigger in size than the one at AMC West Palm Beach 12, as well as built-in recliners. It would also be amazing to have a Dolby Theater with similar recliner and size accommodations or greater, as it would once again provide Palm Beach County this premium offering that has since been gone following the closure. It would also be preferable to have a theater located close to I-95 to make it very accessible and quick to travel - plus, there are already several theaters located near 441 so it would be best to spread it out.

However, there is one thing that we encourage as a major change that even the AMC West Palm Beach 12 IMAX did not offer. Our county does not have a single theater that projects Laser IMAX, whereas the closest theaters that do are located over 30 minutes away in Broward  and Miami-Dade Counties (such as Aventura and Autonation). These were plans that were supposed to happen during the remodeling process at AMC West Palm Beach 12, but it never came to fruition. With the recent news about the theater's closure, this could be a good opportunity to start things off from scratch, providing residents in Palm Beach County the best movie viewing experiences.

Even with the closure of AMC West Palm Beach 12, it is clear that there will be a demand for a new AMC theater for the area. We highly encourage AMC theaters to look into these plans and essentially replicate the premium offerings or provide even greater amenities. The people of Palm Beach County (a population of approximately 1.4 million residents) look forward to hearing about any updates about this matter.
