Pratyusha was my daughter and only child. The world knew her as ‘Anandi’, the lead character in the popular long-running TV serial ‘Balika Vadhu’. Some local police officials have hastily termed her widely publicised death as a case of suicide  as per the first report they received from the Prime Suspect, whereas we have numerous, very good reasons to believe that she has been murdered. I want justice for Pratyusha, and implore you to support me in my quest to achieve this. I humbly ask for your kind support in backing my efforts to this end by signing my petition digitally so that the Honorable Home Mininster of India, Shri Rajnath Singh, may direct the CBI to conduct a thorough investigation into this murder enquiry by considering all vital evidence hitherto ignored or side-lined by local police officials, which is critically important to establish the truth. In terming her death as a suicide, local police officials have disregarded many critical material facts, including the last recorded call conversation between my daughter and the prime suspect, statements made by numerous eye witnesses and women who were financially defrauded previously and were associated with the prime suspect, and even an assertion about the prime suspect’s character and behaviour during the initial investigation of this case by numerous witnesses in the national media. We believe that the ignoring of this and other important evidence by certain police officials is highly suspicious besides being irregular  as per norms.

Furthermore, the fact that vital evidence at the scene of the crime had not been sealed and safeguarded for further investigation - especially in the context of the hasty declaration of suicide by certain police officials - merits thorough investigation. If you also consider the height of my daughter and the distance from the ceiling to even her stretched out hands, it defies logic as to how she could ever have suspended herself from that ceiling without a high stool or step ladder, or another person’s involvement in the act.

The scene of crime has not been investigated thoroughly at all, and a hurried, illogical and highly suspect declaration of suicide has been disappointingly and unfairly concluded. We have been threatened and intimidated in numerous ways, but we have resolved to not allow justice to be denied like this in the interests of establishing the truth.

We demand that justice and fair play are asserted in the investigation of this murder, not only for Pratyusha, the daughter whom we will never see again, but for all common people - women or men, child or adult - against whom such injustice is meted out.

There is previous and clear precedence for an authority of the standing of the CBI to investigate this murder, and we are confident that when investigated, not only will justice be served and the prime suspect be prosecuted for his crime, but that a strong message will also be sent out throughout the nation that no matter how strong a criminal’s personal ‘connections’, the rule of law applies to one and all, and that justice will prevail in even the most difficult of circumstances.

I join my hands in a prayer to all fellow Indians and most humbly request your support in requesting the honourable Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh Ji, to order a thorough CBI investigation into my daughter’s death by signing this petition digitally and spreading the word as far and wide as possible.

I am confident that we can achieve justice and send out a strong message with your support.
