Waipu Cove/Langs Beach Speed Restrictions

Waipu Cove/Langs Beach Speed Restrictions
The issue
Speed restrictions - or a Safe Speed Zone for Waipu Cove and Langs Beach is needing establishment and enforcement support.
Waipu Cove and Langs beach residents and visitors, would like consideration from Local and National Roading decision makers to make the Waipu Cove/Langs Beach, Cove Road, a safer area by appropriate traffic calming methods.
Waipu Cove and Langs Beach residents have been noticing an increase in the quantity of vehicles and the speed of vehicles using Cove Road.
Tania, a local has highlighted this issue, which is not a new one, but is worsening, as she stood opposite the Cove Store awaiting the morning school bus. It's not just the speed of cars as they are passing the bus, but its while the children await, or hop off the bus which is the worrying time.
Residents in the area close to the speed limit sign, (after St Anne Road, heading to Waipu - and before St Anne Road heading to the reserve) have commented that the speed at that corner should be 50, yet is used as a chance to speed up prior to the sign.
Residents at both beaches have been concerned about crossing the road, as the speeds of the cars approaching are faster than the speed limit.
Cove Road is now a commuters route, from Whangarei to Mangawhai. Noted in this, is that they are not coming to Waipu Cove or Langs Beach as a destination, but as a thoroughfare.
