It's still an occurrence where people will leave their animal trapped in a vehicle during 80+ degree weather. This is unacceptable. A dog, cat, etc. left in a hot car for not even an hour without cool air or water is deadly, and inhumane. Fortunately, in West Virginia, it is illegal to do so, but no one is allowed to find necessary means to get into the vehicle, not even law enforcement. I'm not looking for justice against the wrongdoer, I want to save an animal's life. I have a recorded video of a basket of puppies, yes, newborn pups, left inside a hot car with the windows barely down. This was in 90+ degree weather, and I could barely stand it in my car. The sad thing is, I couldn't do anything. If this petition passes, more animal lives will be saved from a careless owner's act. The animals were here before us, we need to respect them more.
