The Issue
INFOSYS REJECTS 100% OF ITS OFFCAMPUS APPLICANTS: NO TRANSPARENCY IN CONDUCTION OF RECRUITMENT DRIVES..
This petition is regarding the injustice and inconvenience caused to thousands of job applicants who were hopeful to get employed in Infosys this year through off campus drives of the company. This year ,in February,Infosys conducted recruitment drives all over India. Many B.tech graduates attended the drives and after the arduous process some made their way to the interview. After the interview many got a regret mail in a week, while others were put on hold saying application status is “in process”. (which, according to the current employees, usually means that you are selected ,but just put on hold till batches are formed), but after waiting patiently for 2-5 months all the waiting applicants also received a regret mail, which was a sheer disappointment for them as many dropped their other jobs and further study plans in a hope to attain the offer letter.On taking a closer look into the matter, it was found that Infosys hired no one from their offcampus drives.So basically all the drives were fake and were not meant to hire anyone and it just caused a great inconvenience to all the students (especially girls)who travelled long way from their homes to other cities just to attend the process.On interacting with the students who were kept on wait ,they say that their interview process was very smooth and that they lacked no where to have achieved a regret letter.Some even claimed that their interviewers were so impressed with them that they almost expected to see them in the company soon and some got their result as SELECTED from Infosys on same day.The students anger is not because they got rejected , but because of the procrastination caused by the company in delivering the regret mail.The whole process is very unclear and though the company promises to declare results in a week,they usually take months to deliver it.Their is no transparency and the whole issue is created because some received the regret in a week(which was acceptable) while some received after 2 months.The applicants complain that if they were not to be selected why didn’t the company reject them in a week ,like they did to others? Applicants also complain that on calling on the company’s helpline number, no one entertains them and are very rude to them.They simply asks them to drop mails (for which they never
reply),regarding the matter. The company says that they hire according to
the requirement , while it is clear , that before and after recruitment also,their poor management(talent acquisition team) is unaware of their requirements and when struck with problems
they simply drop the applicants,playing with the future and career of the talented youth.It is a simple case of acquiring talents ,keeping them on hold, and dropping them according to their own will.The petition is against the company ,to not to conduct fake drives, without first analyzing their own requirements and the budget.Also the whole process should be transparent to the applicants, they should be properly entertained and passed information ,when they seek it.If rejection,it should be delivered within a week without delay,else people on hold should also be conveyed with the procedure through emails ,The company policies are vague,as all the offcampus batches are being scrapped out(which is very strange!).No body can compensate the time lost by the aspiring candidates, but definitely a change is required so that the company clears “how and when they recruit. “ The company should clearly list instructions related to the recruitment process and pass them scrupulously to all and not keep anyone on wait for more than 2 weeks time.Also, “why drives when there is no requirement?” There should be a solution framed out for this and also an
apology for the inconvenience caused to 20,000 applicants.
