SAUVER LE PARC "PIGEON HOLE"
Il y a présentement peu d'espaces verts dans le Vieux Montréal... Au coeur du quartier, à deux pas de la basilique Notre-Dame, se situe un chaleureux petit parc sur la rue Notre-Dame O. entre les rues St-François-Xavier & St-Jean.
Un projet immobilier du parc "Pigeon Hole" a été approuvé par la ville de Montréal. C'est un projet de 7 étages et plus de 200 unités en plein centre d'un quartier. historique. L'architecture n'est aucunement en harmonie avec les immeubles centenaires des alentours. Il surplomberait de merveilleux immeubles en pierre, dont la première bourse Montréal (maintenant le théâtre Centaur), le Télégraphe et l'Annexe Sunlife.

Je suis outré qu'un tel projet ait été approuvé par la ville de Montréal. Dans un arrondissement historique où il y a de restrictions sur les matériaux et couleurs utilisés lors de rénovations d'immeubles existants, comment un immeuble qui jure. autant avec son environnement peut être approuvé?!
Personnellement, j'adore la saveur Européenne que l'on retrouve dans le Vieux Montréal, unique en Amérique du Nord. Ce projet va écraser les magnifiques immeubles autours qui donnent au quartier cette caractéristique.
Aidez-nous à sauver l'âme du Vieux Montréal. Un tel projet ne jurerait pas autant 5 blocs plus loins vers l'ouest dans Griffintown, mais ça serait vraiment une plaie ouverte sur le paysage urbain du quartier...

There are not many green areas in Old Montreal. There is a beautiful little parc at the heart of Old Montreal which is located on Notre-Dame O. Street, between St-François-Xavier & St-Jean streets (only 2 blocks away from Notre-Dame basilica).
There is a real estate project for the Pigeon Hole park that has been approved y the city of Montreal. It will take up the whole area of the park. It is a 200+ unit, 7 stories building that is in the heart of a historical neighbourhood. It is not at all in harmony with the century old stone buildings all around and would overshadow the beautiful architectures of the first Montreal Stock Exchange (currently the Centaur Theatre), the Telegraph building, the Sun Life Annex building, amongst others.

I am shocked that such a project has been approved by the City of Montreal. In a historical neighbourhood like Old Montreal, where current buildings have restrictions on materials and colours used for renovations, how can a building that clashes so much with the rest be permitted?!
I personally love the European aspect of Old Montreal, unique in North America. Having such a project will overshadow many beautiful buildings that are now at the heart of what gives Old Montreal this characteristic.
Please help save the spirit of Old Montreal! A project like this would not be out of place 5 blocks west in Griffintown, but would be a really sore rash on the Old Montreal landscape...
