A new Gabba redevelopment plan proposes squeezing a 55,000 seat stadium into the tiny Gabba site, which simply is not big enough. The new Brisbane, AFL / cricket stadium needs to service Queensland through to 2060 and beyond. It needs to be 60,000-70,000 seats minimum. An average 75,000 people attended the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne over the last 5 days and provided a timely reminder Queensland needs to think big and think to the future. Cricket and AFL need someone to play eg the Gabba, while our new stadium is being built at Victoria Park.
