Dear Supporters, While we continue to work hard to raise awareness of the inherent cruelty and exploitation of the horse carriage industry in Victoria, others are also working around the world to ban horse carriages in their own local communities. This morning we were overjoyed to find out that Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre has imposed a one-year ban on the horse carriages. Last month video footage of a horse carriage collision appeared online and public support was overwhelming for a ban. Now the horses have a temporary reprieve from the city streets for one year. While we want to congratulate the Mayor Coderre for making such a compassionate and progressive decision, we must also encourage him to heed the evidence from cities like Victoria, that even after further regulation accidents still occur every year. There is only one way to protect the horses and that is to ban this inhumane industry permanently. Thank you again for signing and sharing.
