Dear Supporters, Sad news today, as in Montreal a horse was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle. The horse has not been checked out by a vet at this time, but early reports say the horse is okay. The fact is, this could happen anywhere. From the article below you can see that these horses reportedly get regular check-ups, but that doesn't change the fact that horses do not belong in the streets with other vehicles. As you can also see from the video, the horse was left unattended as there is no driver in the carriage. Irresponsible actions like these are human errors that involve the lives of vulnerable animals. They can be avoided best by removing the industry involved. Furthermore, we want to thank the Montreal SPCA for taking a strong opposition to the horse carriage industry in their city. Well established organizations need to speak up against both animal cruelty and exploitation. We hope the City of Victoria doesn't wait for something like this or worse to happen before they take action on this important issue. It is their responsibility to look out for the interests of the animals first, not exploitative businesses and tourism. Once there is another serious collision, we can't go back.
