The issue

Every school day, hundreds of children and families use the crossings on King Road and Strickland Street near Cooinda Primary School. Unfortunately, speeding through these school zones has become a serious and ongoing concern.

Our dedicated school crossing supervisor has repeatedly raised these concerns with Main Roads WA and has even spoken to the media in an effort to create change, yet dangerous driving continues.

As a community, we should not have to wait for a child to be seriously injured before action is taken.

We are calling on Main Roads WA, the City of Bunbury and our local representatives to urgently assess these crossings and implement effective safety measures.

This may include:

Additional flashing school zone signs
Traffic calming measures where appropriate
Speed feedback signs
Increased police enforcement during school drop-off and pick-up times
Any other improvements recommended by road safety experts
This petition is not about assigning blame. It is about protecting children, supporting our crossing supervisors and ensuring every child can travel to and from school safely.

Please sign and share this petition to help create change before a preventable tragedy occurs.
