Urgent: Address the mismanagement of the Salisbury Road closure & its impact on lives

The Issue

The Salisbury Road community is enduring extreme disruption due to Barnet Council's severe mismanagement of road repairs, which were necessitated by the damage inflicted by the unwarranted rerouting of the 384 bus. The road closures have made emergency vehicle access, including ambulances and fire engines, impossible, and hindered essential deliveries. Additionally, the situation forces elderly residents and others to park at distant locations, while prams and wheelchairs struggle to navigate obstructed pavements.

To add insult to injury, the haphazard execution of the roadworks on Salisbury Road led to damage to utility pipes, necessitating emergency repairs in the middle of the night, further disrupting the community with significant noise and disturbance.

Initially scheduled to start on October 30th and complete by November 3rd, the works have been unjustifiably extended by three weeks. This prolonged disruption is exacerbated by the fact that the road is to remain completely closed, a situation that is utterly ridiculous and wholly unacceptable.

To remedy the ongoing issues in Salisbury Road, it is critical to take swift action to complete these roadworks in the shortest possible time frame to stop the disruption and to allow deliveries to resume.
