Urge the UK Government to Expedite Family Reunification Visas for Alawites in Syria

Urge the UK Government to Expedite Family Reunification Visas for Alawites in Syria

This is not just a plea; it is a desperate cry for help. I received a harrowing call from my mother, her voice echoing over the sounds of gunfire. She said, “Forgive me and remember me if I die.” The reality of her likely death still haunts every thought. Our families, like many others in Syria's coastal district, are subjected to systematic violence, persecution, and genocide due to their Alawite identity. Friends, neighbours, people we love have been slaughtered, shot in the head, or vanished without a trace. Some are still missing and this is a painful reality for us. It's not merely a war; it's a well-planned genocide.
Reports confirm numerous acts of horrific violence, such as mass killings and forced disappearances, continually targeted against the Alawites (source: International Red Cross, Human Rights Watch reports). The urgency of this situation cannot be overstated. Every moment of inaction costs innocent lives.
We urgently appeal to the UK Government to recognize this crisis and take swift and effective action. This must include expediting family reunification visas, facilitating safe passage, and advocating internationally for their protection. Immediate action is the difference between life and death.
Our plea doesn't aim to cause alarm, but it is born out of a desperate necessity to save lives. My family’s survival, along with thousands of others, hinges upon urgent family reunification. Time is slipping away, and we must not allow their names to be added to the growing list of the dead. We ask you, as compassionate global citizens, to sign this petition and stand with us in persuading the UK government to act swiftly and decisively. Your signature not only represents your support, but it may also be a critical lifeline for someone in dire need.
