Today, we received the devastating news that Darren our beloved tennis coach is to leave the club. Darren's dedication and passion have inspired myself, my friends, their children, and countless young people to play, practice, and truly enjoy the sport of tennis over the past 15 years. His influence at the Ratoath Tennis Club has been profound, fostering a welcoming environment that has drawn in members from all walks of life encouraging the love of the sport. The unexpected news of his contract not being renewed, which is set to expire on August 31st, has left many of us heartbroken and concerned for the future of our vibrant club community.

Darren is not just a coach; he is a mentor, a friend, and an integral part of our lives. His lessons go beyond teaching the technicalities of the sport. He instills values of perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship that resonate with players of all ages. Losing him would not only impact those of us who regularly benefit from his coaching, but future generations of tennis players in our community and we feel compelled to make our dissatisfaction with this decision known. 

We understand that negotiations between Darren and the club have been ongoing, and a resolution seemed almost within reach. It is vital to acknowledge the impact that this decision would have on our community here in Ratoath. Darren's departure would leave an irreplaceable void, disrupting long-standing relationships and the growth of a positive, engaging tennis culture.

We ask the board of Ratoath Tennis Club to reconsider their decision and renew Darren's contract. It is in the best interest of the club and its members to retain a coach who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and whose presence is cherished by so many.
