The Issue

For over five years, I have dedicated myself to finding a solution for the preservation of the abandoned cemetery in Plains Township, PA. I have witnessed firsthand the devastation this neglected site has brought to grieving families and the community at large. The mausoleum, once a place of peace and remembrance, now stands vulnerable to constant vandalism. Even worse, the structural integrity of grave vaults is rapidly declining, posing a threat to the sanctity of the resting places of those departed.

Given its current state, the cemetery requires immediate intervention. The sense of despair it has brought to our community is immeasurable, impacting not only those directly affected but also neighbors and local residents who pass by and feel the weight of neglect.

We propose a clear and actionable plan: Plains Township should take legal control of the cemetery. By doing so, the township can honor the memory of our loved ones by implementing security measures to prevent further vandalism and neglect. The bodies currently inside the mausoleum should be respectfully relocated to the available plots at the cemetery's front, ensuring their dignity and providing closure to their families.

Court orders must be sought to facilitate this process, allowing the bodies to be reinterred respectfully and lawfully. This solution is not only feasible but necessary for the community's peace of mind. The township's involvement is crucial to restore this sacred ground to a place of honor and remembrance.

By signing this petition, you are urging Plains Township officials to prioritize this cause, to take definitive action, and to bring about a resolution that has been long overdue. Your signature can make a difference for countless families who deserve to see their loved ones rest in peace, free from the threat of further vandalism and disrespect. Please lend your support to this vital cause.
