As a parent with several children attending Northfield School & Sports College, I am deeply concerned about the discomfort faced by pupils due to the current hot-weather uniform policy. As temperatures soar, it's crucial that our students are able to focus on their learning, rather than being hindered by unnecessarily high temperature thresholds that dictate when uniform adjustments are acceptable.

While we appreciate the existing flexibility the school provides during very hot weather, the set temperature threshold remains ambiguous and overly strict, leaving students sweltering in classrooms while reasonable solutions are delayed. Information about these temperature guidelines is often not easily accessible or transparent for families who want to ensure their children's well-being.

Statistics from the World Health Organization highlight how prolonged exposure to high temperatures can negatively impact both mental focus and health. As such, it's imperative that we ensure an optimal, comfortable learning environment.

We are calling on Northfield School & Sports College to review and lower the temperature threshold that allows for sensible uniform adjustments. A more transparent and lower threshold will ensure that children are not unnecessarily uncomfortable and can maintain their focus on education.
