The Issue

To Senator John Hoeven, Senator Kevin Cramer, and Representative Julie Fedorchak:

We, the people of North Dakota, have pressing questions and concerns about the ongoing sweeping changes to our federal government. These changes have a dramatic effect on our lives, liberties, and pursuits of happiness.

We want the opportunity to engage directly with our members of Congress, who we chose to represent us. We urge you to hold in-person town halls, where you can listen to our concerns and answer our questions.

These events should be:

  • announced in advance through social and news media,
  • provide a clear invitation to all community members,
  • be held in spaces that are open to the community, and
  • be free to attend.

When you choose not to hold in-person events that are open to the public, you do us a disservice and undermine public trust. You limit your ability to represent North Dakotans effectively and miss opportunities to identify emerging challenges, resources, and compromises.

We urge you to schedule in person town halls in North Dakota, so you can hear directly from the people you represent. As an elected representative of North Dakota this is your duty, and our democracy depends on it.
