I, like many others here in the UK, am experiencing an unsettling rise in my water bill. Recently, my bill increased by roughly thirty percent. With cost of living already high, this increase is an immense burden. Unfortunately, Thames Water has offered little to no support in handling these concerns when contacted.

Therefore, it is time for our local MPs to act on our behalf. Across the UK, water bills are soaring above inflation rates. Between 2018 and 2020, they rose by about 2% per year, two times higher than the rate of inflation, according to a report from Ofwat, the UK water regulator.

It appears like daylight robbery, and most of us UK residents are victims. We should not have to bear such disproportionate increases without sufficient justification or support. We call upon our MPs to investigate this issue forthwith, to hold service providers accountable, and to ensure that the water supply remains affordable for all.
