The Issue

As someone who heavily relies on three Windows 10 computers for work and various home projects, the looming end of free support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, poses a daunting challenge. The inability to upgrade my devices to Windows 11 due to hardware limitations presents a predicament facing many users like me worldwide.

By discontinuing free support, Microsoft is potentially leaving millions of machines vulnerable to security threats. With the International Data Corporation (IDC) estimating that there were 1.3 billion Windows PCs in use worldwide in 2020, millions could be left in a potentially perilous state due to outdated security measures come 2025.

If we do not upgrade to newer, compatible machines or pay for additional support, we are faced with the daunting risk of cyber threats. A financial burden for many, not only does this demand unnecessary expenditure, but it also contributes to electronic waste, an escalating global concern.

We urge Microsoft to reconsider its decision and extend the free support for Windows 10 to 2030. As users and supporters of Microsoft products, we indignantly ask for a fair solution that will consider the economic situation and security of many users across the globe. Please sign this petition to pressure Microsoft to act responsibly and favorably for its loyal users.
