Recently, during a regular meeting, the Lee County commissioners made a decision that deeply hurt our LGBT community. By labeling June as "Faith, Family and Responsible Fatherhood Month" and showing support for messages that categorize Pride Month and gay individuals as part of a "failed social experiment," they have marginalized and disrespected a vital part of our society.

These actions not only undermine the progress we have made as a community in promoting diversity and inclusivity but also create an environment of intolerance and prejudice. Such statements fuel misunderstanding and stigma, which are harmful to people who are simply trying to live their lives authentically and contribute positively to society.
