Urge Education Minister Becky Druhan to Address Discrimination and Bullying

Urge Education Minister Becky Druhan to Address Discrimination and Bullying
The Issue
At Nova Scotia Against Discrimination, we know about a teacher and his family who are on the brink of homelessness due to the mishandling of a case involving discrimination and bullying in Minister Druhan's ministry. The core issue lies within the Office of Teacher Certification of Nova Scotia, headed by the ministry of Honourable Becky Druhan. She is currently overlooking an important issue that not only affects their circumstances, but questions the safety of numerous children studying in schools across Nova Scotia. It is perplexing that a Minister in charge of educating young minds, opts to not only ignore, but perpetuate a hostile environment within her own team.
Statistically, bullying and discrimination have a significant, long-term impact on humans' mental health. According to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, about 47% of Canadian parents report having a child victim of bullying. Every human should have a right to a safe and secure environment. The refusal from Minister Druhan to address these issues not only disappoints us, but also puts countless children at risk of unfair treatment, as it creates an atmosphere of acceptance for those serious issues.
The need for a change is urgent. The continuous evasion of responsibility from Minister Druhan does not bode well for the education system of Nova Scotia. We implore her to prioritize creating an environment built on respect and fairness within her ministry. Nova Scotians deserve to live and work in an atmosphere free from discrimination and intimidation.
We humbly plead with you to sign this petition and pressure Minister Druhan to take immediate and necessary action against bullying and discrimination in the Ministry of Education.
