Urge Calum Miller to trigger a by-election in Bicester and Woodstock
The Issue
Call for Calum Miller MP to Resign and Trigger a By-Election
We, the undersigned, call on Calum Miller MP to resign his seat and allow the people of Bicester and Woodstock to decide who they want representing them through a by-election.
The proposed use of Bicester A Site for asylum accommodation has become one of the biggest issues facing our local area.
At the first public town hall meeting regarding A Site, Calum Miller gave strong assurances that he would do everything within his power to oppose the plans.
Many of us now feel that the response simply hasn’t been strong enough.
Letters have been written, concerns have been raised and statements have been made – but with the possibility of A Site still opening, we have to ask whether our constituency has received the level of leadership and representation this situation requires.
This isn’t just about stopping A Site from opening.
If it does go ahead, Bicester could face a significant period of change and uncertainty. We will need an MP who local people have confidence in to represent the town, challenge decisions where necessary and deal with the consequences for our community.
The situation facing Bicester and the wider constituency has changed considerably since the last General Election.
So let the people decide.
We are calling on Calum Miller to resign his seat and trigger a by-election.
If the people of Bicester and Woodstock believe Calum has done everything reasonably within his power and remains the right person to represent us, they can give him their backing again.
If they believe we need stronger or different representation, they should have the opportunity to choose it.
This petition is not about telling people who they should vote for.
It is about giving local people the opportunity to decide who they want representing them at what could be one of the most important periods Bicester has faced in recent history.
We therefore call on Calum Miller MP to resign and allow a by-election to take place.
Let Bicester and Woodstock decide.
