I am a local Gap Bowl enthusiast and I was recently reminded about how over 4 years ago the counsellor for The Gap ward first mentioned giving the local Gap skatepark a much needed refurbishment and upgrade. The Gap bowl is a very unique skatepark to the North side of Brisbane and is unfortunately missing some key elements that are found in other Brisbane skateparks (eg. floodlights). 

Screen time is an ever increasing number in the youth of today’s society and has many negative effects including not getting enough exercise, not socialising with friends and family and can even lead to obesity and sleep problems. A good way get active and combat that number is riding a bike, scooter or skateboard at the local skatepark.

At the moment there is only the one section that is for advanced riders and by adding a second section it would create possibilities for beginner riders and provide a way for those that are glued to their screens a way to get active and socialise. The section whilst also being for beginner riders should still have elements that advanced riders can use.
